Caribbean Counselors Association
Caribbean Counselors' Association (CCA) is a non-profit organization for counselors, educators and professionals dedicated to helping others. Our membership is drawn primarily from counselors in the private and public schools sectors as well as universities in Puerto Rico and college representatives from the United States.
Since 1968, CCA has been instrumental in giving ample opportunities for students in its member schools to seek admission to stateside colleges and universities. It has also strengthened the professionalism among counselors by sharing information and techniques, developing mutual cooperation, and providing in-service training.
Initially, it was the counselors from the English speaking private schools that met together and agreed on the general purposes indicated above. The prime mover was Reverend Norman Glement S.M. from Colegio San José, Reverend Victor Burset from The Episcopal Cathedral School, and Mrs. Hope Miller from Antilles High School.
The Association has since then enjoyed a steady growth in its
membership.
Working towards our primary purpose of exposing our students to the greatest possible alternatives for a college level education. CCA has constituted programs such as Fall/Spring College Fairs. The college representatives have direct contact with students and parents to
make their presentations.
Members of CCA have met the second general purpose. These include networking, and professional development through workshops, and conferences. Counselors can avail themselves of the opportunities offered by these programs.
